Sorry for the lack of posts lately. Time is really starting to fly by. I had my 24 week appointment this past Tuesday. Giada and I are both doing well, growing on schedule. This is my last 4 weeks in between appointments, then we go to every 2 weeks. I have my glucose test next time (in May) and I'm hoping all goes well with that. I know I've been eating well (it helps that I'm picky about sweets) and I exercise (love doing yoga and Wrigley and I go on long walks daily) so hopefully I'll be fine.
Thanks to Grandma Debbie, Brian and I had an exciting week. Grandma sent some things to us for Giada and her nursery and I think we came home to a package everyday! I washed a few loads of clothes and blankets for Giada, the first of many. :-)
If you are reading this and are still unsure how to pronounce our daughter's name here is what I can tell you. It has two syllables, Giada (Jah-dah). There is a chef on food network with this name also. If that doesn't help you, you'll just have to ask us when you see us!
I only have 4 1/2 weeks of work remaining this school year, and two of them are 4-day weeks! I have had an amazing group of kids and feel so blessed to have a job that I love, but I do get so excited for summer. Especially this summer when we are expecting our baby girl.
I finished my action research and paper for my last graduate class. I will go to class for the last time on Thursday to discuss my research with my classmates and hear about their research. Then I will officially be DONE WITH SCHOOL! I will receive my master's degree. I'm so proud of this accomplishment. I am so thankful for the support of my husband over the last 3 years. He was so supportive of my decision to go back to school and encouraged me when I needed a little extra motivation throughout my grad. program. Scholarships, grants, and part-time jobs helped me graduate with my B.S. with $0 college debt. Then a full-time job paid for my master's degree. I am 26 years old, I have a B.S. and M.S. degree, a career that I love, and $0 college debt...Now that's something to be proud of!
Brian and I have both got to experience Giada's growing strength over the last week. This girl is on the move and boy can she kick. And my oh my are the pregnancy hormones giving me some wild and crazy dreams. Sometimes I wake up feeling sad, other times very mad! Sometimes I remember the dream and why I feel the way I do, other times I have no idea why I woke up feeling so mad and just slammed the bathroom door. Brian has been amazing through it all. He can help me laugh about it or just hug me through it...he always seems to know just what to do or say to make me feel sane again. This past week he brought me my favorite flowers to work, just to let me know he loves me. My students got a kick out of seeing him.
I'm sure some of you are wanting to see more pictures of my baby bump. We'll take some more soon and I'll post them next time!

Happy Birthday to Me!
This past weekend was my 26th birthday. I have to say this is the first birthday that I feel I am getting older, not old, just older. Maybe it's because I'm pregnant and we are starting a family. All I know is that 26 sounds more like late 20s than mid-20s. It is also the first time in about 10 years that I haven't had a week long "JessicaPalooza" celebration. I guess it's the fact that I can't go out and enjoy adult beverages and I have a full-time job and work hard everyday (and get up early) so JessicaPalooza lost its luster this year. :-)
I was blessed with a beautiful birthday weekend. We had amazing weather and we got to enjoy some fun outside. Brian got me my favorite flowers, Gerber daisies. He planted them for me and now we just have to keep watering them. For some reason we seem to not do so great with potted plants because we forget to water them. Here's to trying again...
My amazing mother and Charlie took us out to lunch to my favorite Cheeseburger in Paradise for my birthday and got me some much needed new maternity clothes. My daddy and Tammy got me some pretty jewelry and some great stuff for baby Giada.
However, the BEST gift was from our baby girl. On my birthday while sitting on the couch she kicked hard enough for Brian to feel her. It was incredible. Brian's eyes lit up when he felt his baby girl for the first time. My heart melted then and there. ♥ Brian is an incredible father already. He makes sure I always have everything I need and want. He talks to Giada, even rubs and kisses my belly. This little girl already has her daddy wrapped around her little finger.
This past weekend was also Easter. My nieces and nephew are all at such a fun age (2 1/2 and 5) for egg hunting. They are old enough to understand what is going on and they have so much fun.
I am worried my energy is on the decline. I've had some really great weeks, but now I'm feeling a bit less energetic. It could be because the weekends have been so nice we're doing more stuff. Or it could be that I'm getting bigger and lugging this belly around takes more effort. I'm not near as tired as I was first trimester, but naps are coming back into my plans on Saturdays and Sundays. I guess I better take advantage of them while I can. I will be 23 weeks tomorrow, which means we only have about 17 weeks to go.

APRIL
Wow, April is here! We are one week away from my birthday, my last one before my baby girl gets here. Spring Break has been amazing! I didn't get all my paper finished for my master's class, but I got to see some friends and relax. Brian and I also spent an afternoon at Babies-R-Us and registered for a ton of goodies for our baby girl. It was a very smooth process until the end, then it got a bit stressful. Bottles, bathtubs, monitors...ahhh! We ended up skipping a lot of that, coming home, talking to friends that are parents, and then adding things to the registry online.
I'll be 22 weeks on Tuesday and I pee constantly! I know people say all pregnant women use the bathroom a lot, but I could win a prize for the amount of time I spend in the bathroom right now. It hasn't let up either. Some moms told me the 2nd trimester would be better. Not for me. I drink water all day, lots and lots of water. Which is good but man it keeps me going day and night. Wrigley most often sleeps right beside my bed. So every time I wake up in the middle of the night I have to slide down to the bottom of the bed then get out so I don't step on him. He was sleeping in the doorway of our mater bathroom the other night (I think the tile was keeping him cool) and I stepped on him. Poor baby. I get up to go so often that I can usually make it from our bed to the bathroom without really opening my eyes. That's not so good when Wrigley is not in his usual sleep spot.
In case you haven't heard, Brian and I decided to name our baby girl ♥ Giada Mae ♥. Brian loves the name Giada and I agreed that it was beautiful and unique. My grandma's name is Laura May, my name is Jessica Laura, and my baby girl's name is Giada Mae after my incredible grandmother. If you are wondering how to pronounce Giada, the i is silent. We are thrilled to get to talk to her and call her by name. She is on the move! Around 18 or 19 weeks I felt the first flutters, and now she is moving all the time. It is such an incredible feeling! I am so anxious to share this feeling and experience with Brian, but I know it will be a few more weeks before he can feel them. Until then I'm enjoying this special time of me being the only one to feel her.
