Fall is in the air...

Wow, I can't believe it is already September! Giada is 6 weeks old and I am so very thankful that I am NOT headed back to work this week. I can't imagine having to add my work load on top of my Mommy load this early. We are still trying to fall into some kind of "routine". I'm learning to be more laid back and just go with the flow...but it would be nice to have a bit more of a routine so I could schedule appointments, etc. Oh well, everyone says as soon as you fall into some kind of a routine it all changes anyway.
Giada prefers to sleep slightly elevated. Laying flat is not an option. We think it is due to her gas/tummy issues. So for now she is sleeping in her bouncer. This has helped significantly at night. We used to have to hold her for 10-15 minutes to make sure she was good and asleep before trying to lay her down, just to have her immediately wake up and cry. Now we can lay her down almost immediately without her waking up! She will grunt a lot and readjust herself, but for the most part stay asleep in her bouncer.
Like I mentioned, Giada is experiencing some pretty bad gas pains. This girl toots a lot! And she comes by it honestly if you know her Daddy.  ;-)  We have discovered the amazingness of infant gas drops, which seem to help her pass the gas with less effort. Before the drops this girl would grunt and grunt and be fussy for an hour+. It was awful to watch knowing their was nothing I could really do. I've read about gassy foods and have tried to eliminate some (that I thought might be contributing to her gas) from my diet.
Giada is grabbing at things now. Some of her favorite things to grab are her Daddy's chest hair (even through his shirt), her own hair, and Mommy's shirt. She has starting swating at her toys on her play gym. Her neck is getting really strong. When held she will hold her head up and look around and turn her head from side to side. During tummy time she will occasionally turn her head from side to side.
Giada loves her bath time. She is so content and relaxed...makes us excited for when she can start splashing around.
