Easter was a blast this year. Holidays are so much better with kids. Seeing the experience through their eyes. We celebrated the resurrection of our Lord and the Easter Bunny stopped by our house as well. G loved finding eggs and seeing what surprises they contained. We don't do treats often and she was in chocolate heaven!
Last Saturday we took a family trip to Great-Uncle Jim's dairy farm with Papaw Tim. G had a blast seeing all the cows. She wanted to see them all (he has probably 180-ish), and we saw most of them. We walked everywhere. G kept saying, "Hello Mr. Cow!" and "More cows Papaw!"
It was fun being back there. It was crazy to see how run down my grandma's house is and I'm sure it was even crazier for my dad. I seem to learn something new every time I go out there. My Uncle Jim is like the family historian. He knows everything. My grandmother had 11 children, ELEVEN. I think about her often, especially on the days I feel overwhelmed with two kids. She spent the better half of two decades having babies, not to mention caring for the rest of her crew and helping out on the farm. And people, I learned she didn't have indoor plumbing until her youngest child was 3!!! Can you imagine?!? So, on my hardest and most tired days, I look to Jesus and know she is next to him probably laughing at me.
My son is continuing to grow at an amazing rate. He is not quite 4 months old and weighs about 19 pounds. My back hurts all the time but holding him is worth every ache. His sister loves to sit next to him and have him sit in her lap. When Papaw came over before we all left for the farm she said, "Bubby this is MY Papaw." Oh sweet girl is still learning to share all of her family with her little brother.
This spring has turned out to be a cool and wet one, but I know summer is just around the corner and then we'll all complain about how hot it is. So right now I'm thankful for play clothes & shoes that can get muddy and wet. And indoor plumbing so I can clean it all up!
