Bath Time

Giada was slow to have regular bowel movements, most likely due to me breastfeeding and waiting on my milk to come in. She had good wet diapers, but we waited and waited for the first dirty diaper. She was born on Sunday evening and her first dirty diaper came Tuesday afternoon, just before we left the hospital. She had a bit of jaundice so Wed. she had to go on a lamp. We were waiting on her 2nd dirty diaper, knowing her jaundice would improve if she could start passing the bilirubin in her stool. Wednesday evening Mommy and Daddy gave Giada her first bath. After getting all clean we wrapped her up in a towel to get her dry and warm. We also made the rookie mistake of not putting a diaper on her immediately. As soon as Mommy picked her up she shot poop out all over Mommy and the floor. Daddy laughed hysterically. I had been so worried that Giada hadn't had a 2nd poop that I couldn't have been happier to be covered and standing in wet poop.
We didn't get any pictures of her first bath because it was a team effort. Grandma Debbie was here for her next bath and took a few photos for us because Mommy & Daddy bathed Giada as a team once again.

Notice the diaper...we learned from bath #1.

Today was our original due date and Giada is 9 days old. My milk has come in, she is eating well & gaining weight, and having plenty of wet and dirty diapers daily. We got rid of the biliruben lamp Sunday. She has her first wellness visit with her pediatrician tomorrow. Brian and I are so happy and in love with our precious baby girl. Wrigley is a great big brother! Our family is perfect! I thank God multiple times daily for this great and perfect gift we are blessed to call our daughter.
